35. Confidence vs. Comparison in the Podcasting Space

Listen on: Apple | Spotify | Amazon Music | Your Favorite Listening App

This episode talks about something every podcaster wrestles with at some point: comparison.

Any time you’re creating something new or evolving your show, it’s almost impossible not to peek at what everyone else is doing. Their downloads. Their guests. Their gear. Their… everything. And before you know it, you’re spiraling into “they’re doing it better than me.”

Yep. Been there.

Comparison is normal.
Comparison is also a confidence killer if you let it take over.

Back in 2008, when I was hosting my very first show, A Virtual Perception, I felt so proud of what I was building. Then another podcast launched with almost the same premise. Suddenly, I was wondering if I’d been “replaced,” if they were doing it better, and if anyone even needed my voice anymore.

Looking back now? I wish someone had said:
There is room for everyone.

Even when two podcasters cover similar topics, your voice, lived experience, energy, and perspective are completely your own. Listeners connect with you because you’re you.
