37. When Your Podcast Makes an Impact

Listen on: Apple | Spotify | Amazon Music | Your Favorite Listening App

Today’s conversation is about impact in podcasting. Not the numbers, but the connection, consistency, and growth that actually make a difference.

It’s easy to believe impact is measured in downloads, rankings, or audience size. To assume that if your show isn’t “big,” it isn’t doing much.

You don’t always see the impact you are creating. You don’t always get feedback. But when you keep showing up, when you allow yourself to grow, and when you lead with connection, your work lands exactly where it’s meant to.

🎧 Want the full story and why this matters for your podcast? Tune into this episode.

Your show doesn’t have to be massive to matter. The impact you’re creating is real.

36. DIY Podcast Setup That Works (Without Overcomplicating It)

Listen on: Apple | Spotify | Amazon Music | Your Favorite Listening App

Hear about some of my favorite beginner-friendly mic options (for new and veteran podcasters alike), the gear you truly need, and the tiny tweaks that make your audio instantly better… no studio required.

There’s so much pressure in podcasting to buy the “perfect” setup. Expensive mics, interfaces, boom arms, the whole thing. But you don’t need a full-blown studio to sound great, truly.

Most podcasters start with simple, affordable gear and build from there. A solid mic, a pop filter, and a steady stand can take you so far. And when you pair that with a few small technique adjustments and a quieter recording space, your audio quality levels up fast.

This episode breaks down the gear I recommend, what actually matters, and how to DIY your setup without overspending or overthinking.

35. Confidence vs. Comparison in the Podcasting Space

Listen on: Apple | Spotify | Amazon Music | Your Favorite Listening App

This episode talks about something every podcaster wrestles with at some point: comparison.

Any time you’re creating something new or evolving your show, it’s almost impossible not to peek at what everyone else is doing. Their downloads. Their guests. Their gear. Their… everything. And before you know it, you’re spiraling into “they’re doing it better than me.”

Yep. Been there.

Comparison is normal.
Comparison is also a confidence killer if you let it take over.

Back in 2008, when I was hosting my very first show, A Virtual Perception, I felt so proud of what I was building. Then another podcast launched with almost the same premise. Suddenly, I was wondering if I’d been “replaced,” if they were doing it better, and if anyone even needed my voice anymore.

Looking back now? I wish someone had said:
There is room for everyone.

Even when two podcasters cover similar topics, your voice, lived experience, energy, and perspective are completely your own. Listeners connect with you because you’re you.

🎧 Want the full pep talk and the whole story? Tune into this episode.

You’re building something real. Something that matters. And the world needs your voice exactly as it is.

The Conversation We Need to Have About Your Podcast Stats

Listen on: Apple | Spotify | Amazon Music | Your Favorite Listening App

I want to take a moment to talk about something that trips up so many podcasters (myself included): stats/analytics.

Whether you're new to podcasting or have been doing this a long time, it’s easy to get caught up in the numbers… and what does it all even mean?

After 17 years in podcasting, here’s what I know for sure:

👉 Stats matter, to a point.
👉 Stats also don’t matter, at all.

Think of stats like having an umbrella when the forecast calls for rain. It’s smart to have on hand, but you don’t need to open it every five minutes “just in case.” Stats are a tool: not something to obsess over daily. Constantly crunching numbers will make you batty (trust me, I’ve been there).

Here’s where stats do matter:

  • To see what topics resonate most with your audience: check which episodes are getting the most listens to guide what content to create, promote, or replay.

  • To track your growth: even if it’s just going from 1 listener to 3. (Yes, that’s a win!) Growth is often a slow burn.

  • If you’re looking to work with sponsors: clean, consistent stats are key.

But here’s what I really want you to hear:

Even if 2 or 3 people are listening, that’s 2 or 3 real people you’re reaching. That’s impact. That’s connection. That is what matters.

🎧 Want the full breakdown—and a personal pep talk to go with it? Tune into this episode!

Your stats are not a reflection of your worth, your voice, or your potential. You’re already podcasting your way.

33. What’s Stopping You? Do the “Thing” Already

Listen on: Apple | Spotify | Amazon Music | Your Favorite Listening App

Podcasting sounds exciting until fear, perfectionism, or tech overwhelm pulls you back to square one. If you’ve had the idea, the name, the notes in your phone, but just can’t seem to start, this episode is here to clear the mental clutter and help you move forward.

I’m sharing the most common reasons people stay stuck in “someday” mode (myself included) and how to shift out of it with grace (and a little tough love). Whether you’re launching for the first time or finding your way back after a pause, you don’t have to wait for perfect.

What You’ll Hear:

  • Why “the perfect time” to launch your podcast rarely exists

  • How fear of judgment and people-pleasing keeps you from using your voice

  • A fresh perspective on tech overwhelm (and why you don’t need to know it all now)

  • How to handle vulnerable topics when you're worried what others might think

  • The beauty of starting before you feel ready

  • A better question to ask than “Is this good enough?”
